You enter your PIN every time you use your e-signature. For security, the card locks itself after several wrong attempts (3 on most tokens). This is called a PIN lock.
PIN vs. PUK
- PIN: the code you enter for every signature.
- PUK: the code used to unlock a blocked PIN and set a new one. It's usually given to you with your e-signature.
If you have your PUK
- Plug in your token.
- Open your provider's signing or card management software.
- Choose the option to unblock the PIN and enter your PUK.
- Set a new PIN and store it safely.
Careful: the PUK can also lock permanently after several wrong attempts, making the token unusable. If you're not sure of your PUK, message us before trying.
If you don't have your PUK
You'll need to start a resolution process with the certificate provider, which may require an identity check. We can follow it up for you; just message us on WhatsApp.
PIN safety tips
- Don't keep your PIN and PUK with the token.
- Avoid guessable codes like your birth date.
- Never share your PIN with anyone, including your consultant.
