E-signature certificates don't last forever. They're usually issued for 1, 2 or 3 years, and when that period ends your e-signature stops working. Most people only notice when they can't sign something important.
What happens when it expires?
- You can't sign documents; the signing software reports the certificate as invalid.
- You can't log in to e-Devlet or UYAP with your e-signature.
- Signatures made before expiry remain valid; you just can't make new ones.
How do I know when it expires?
The expiry date is shown in the certificate details of your signing software. Providers also send reminders by e-mail or SMS. If you're not sure, message us and we'll check together.
Why is renewing before expiry easier?
Many providers let you sign the renewal application with your current e-signature while it's still valid, so you may not need to repeat the identity check. After expiry, the process usually works like a new application and your identity has to be verified again.
Can I reuse my token?
In most cases, yes: the new certificate is loaded onto your existing token. If the token is old, faulty, or you're switching providers, you may need a new one.
